  Find out what cable/internet provider is available in your area. In certain areas of Houston, there are different providers available.

• Utility Companies

  Call utility companies current and future.

• Tote Bag

  Create an important record tote.

• Medical Records

  Compile medical, shot, dental, and prescription records.

• School and Vet Records

  Don't forget school records & veterinarian records.

• Call Health Insurance Agent

  Make sure you call your insurance agent to see if you need to make any changes to your health insurance policy.

• Call Car Insurance Agent

  Don't forget to call your car insurance agent and update your address. Depending on where you moved there could be a decrease of cost on your automobile policy.

• Purge the House

  Decide what you are moving, what you are donating, and what you are throwing away.

• Use Up Items

  Begin using all items that can't be moved like frozen foods, gas in your lawn mower, bleach, or even aerosols.

• Moving Boxes

  Variety Movers can sell you boxes before your move or you can wait until a few days before you move and Variety Movers can come to your house and provide the boxes and packing services for your move.

• Packing and Unpacking

  Remember that Variety Movers can provide full packing services, partial packing services, and unpacking services.

• Address Change

  Change your address (you can do this online).

• Moving Permits

  Check to see if you need any moving permits to move out of your current building or into your new one. If you do just let Variety Movers know so that we can get you the necessary information.

• Your Pets

  Confirm travel arrangements for your pet(s).

• Copies of Keys

  Get extra copies of your new keys to your new house and put them in your essential box.

• Essentials Box

  Pack an essentials box in a clear tote so that you can get to it the first day of your move: include phone chargers, utensils, emergency contact numbers, extra copies of your new keys, utensils, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, etc.

• Drain Oil and Gas

  Drain any oil and gas from your lawn equipment, gas grills, etc.

• Medication

  Fill any medication that you will need during your move.

• Drain Hoses

  Drain water hoses and washing machine.

• Empty Fridge

  Empty and defrost your refrigerator at least 24 hours before your move.
